NAB arrests owner of fake housing scheme in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday arrested the owner of a housing scheme for his alleged involvement in corruption and corrupt practices and cheating public at large.

A press release said the accused Amjad Ali Khan along with other co-accused persons enticed and motivated general public through attractive advertisements to invest their hard earned money in fraudulent housing scheme “Zohaib Garden” at Jail Road Mardan and Zohaib Commercial Complex in Mardan and Peshawar.

Due to attractive incentives, 105 innocent individuals invested in these projects. However, the accused persons neither handed over possession to investors nor did return the money.

It added that after cognizance by the NAB the accused absconded and avoided inquiry proceeding. Accordingly, it maintained, reference amounting to Rs62.378 million has already been filed against the accused persons in the accountability court, which is under trial. The accountability court remanded the accused into NAB custody for 12 days.
