Rawalpindi: Torrential rain on Friday exposed tall claims made by the departments concerned including Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR), Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment Boards about sanitation and drainage of rain water.
All the arrangements were exposed when rainwater choked the entire drainage system mainly of low lying areas and turned several roads including roads of Liaquat Bagh Chowk, Tench Bhatta, People’s Colony, Misrial Road, Gawalmandi, Mareer Chowk, Amarpura, Dhoke Elahi Bakhsh, Kohati Bazaar and other areas into ponds of water.
The motorists faced difficulties as rainwater inundated the roads due to poor cleanliness arrangements made by the sanitation department of the Cantonment Board and Tehsil Municipal Authority. Meanwhile, the City District Government Rawalpindi CDGR officials claimed that they have completed all arrangements to cope with any possible flood as Pakistan Metrological Department has forecast more rains in the coming days.
