Unscheduled outages protested

TANK: The elders of Bhittani tribe deplored theunscheduled power loadshedding in their villages, demanding the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) to takenote of thesituation.

The tribesmen assembled at Umar Adasub-town at alocally organisedplate farm namely Bhittani Welfare Society, complained that they were faced with acute water shortage.

The residents of Umar Ada , Maghzai, Kiri Marwati, Niamatkhel, Janaki, Kiri Jandar and Waruki villages diverted the attention of the high-ups of the towards what they stated they were treated being the third-class citizens of the society as none had bothered to provide them with basic amenities.

Thespeakers includingMalik Hussain Bhittani, Sameen Khan, Gulbehram,Momin Khan, Jabbar Khan, Muhammad Amin and others complained that on-going unscheduled power outage caused stand-still to their lives.

The dwellers of these remote vicinities of the district were forced to fetch water for their needs from nearby water-ponds as almost 20 hours longoutage was beingcarried outby thePesco local authorities.

They added that consumption of the polluted and unhygienic water wascausingwater-bond diseases among the masses rapidly.They blamed that as a result ofcontract with the locals, Pesco officials every monthextort thousands in the name of recovery from these unfortunate villages.

But the issue of low voltage and power fluctuation was neverbeing addressed by thelocal management of Pesco.The protestersasked the district management to intervene the situation by directingPesco management to install anotherelectricity feeder to reduce the already overburdenedUmar Adda feeder.
