NAWABSHAH: The district police have failed in resolving more than half a dozen serious crimes, including one in which a poor schoolteacher lost the dowry of his daughter. The incident occurred late on Thursday in Azim Colony, where thieves swept clean everything from the house of a poor schoolteacher Shahzad.
The teacher narrated his story to journalists. He told them that he had arranged the dowry of his daughter with great difficulty. He said the family had gone out of the house to offer condolence to a neighbour when the thieves broke the door of the house open and decamped with valuables, jewellery and other items. The incident created unrest among the people of the area and they staged a demonstration in front of former provincial minister Syed Shaukat Husain Shah’s residence.
On the other hand, a gang of six thieves made hostage an entire area in the jurisdiction of the Taluka Police Station. They indulged in the crimes of theft and snatching. They stole the battery of a bulldozer, snatched a motorcycle from its owner and escaped after torturing him and left him bleeding. The gang had tea at the house of labourer and then left with all mobile phones and cash snatched from him. The people have demanded of the authorities to provide protection to them.
