The chief guest, Mrs. Shaista Zaid, in her speech, extended her felicitations to the parents and teachers of the high-achievers. She referred to the glowing faces of the bright students radiant with the glow of success and asserted that CBians have always kept alive the spirits of hard work and achievement. She highlighted the importance of committed educators in moulding the personality of young students who constitute the future of Pakistan. “There is dire need of real education that enlightens the mind and teaches tolerance, patience, acceptance of divergent points of view and a commitment to truth. If we, as Pakistanis and Muslims, want to recover our past glory, we must go back to the fountain of knowledge, i.e. the Holy Quran. Each of us must read at least one verse with translation every day to shake our moral and spiritual yearnings. We must go back to the Islamic virtues of tolerance, peaceful coexistence and hard work. Only in this way can Pakistan rise out of the quagmire of corruption, poverty and terrorism like a phoenix rising out of the ashes to new heights of glory,” she said.
