Javed, 30, of Lahore committed suicide by strangling himself in the jail. Hafizabad City police had arrested him in a theft case and shifted him to the jail on Monday. The jail officials have handed over the body of Javed to his family for burial. Meanwhile, in his suicide note, accused Javed said that his in-laws had implicated him in a case. He said that he had gone to Hafizabad to bring his estranged wife back but his in-laws refused.
Death warrants for two murder convicts issued in Pakpattan

PAKPATTAN: The district and sessions judge on Tuesday issued death warrants for two murder convicts after rejection of their appeals from the high court. The D&SJ issued death warrants for Ejaz of Mohallah Taliwala for killing a schoolteacher in 2009 and Ahmad Ali for murdering his sons Waqar Ahmad and Faraz Ahmad after a quarrel with his wife Safia Bibi.

TOBA TEK SINGH: Former MNA Amjad Warraich, who was arrested for threatening to take out a rally during the PM Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Gojra on Sunday, was released here on Tuesday. Amjad Warraich had threatened to take out a rally over transport fares issue. Amjad’s brother MPA Bilal Warraich and his other supporters took him to Gojra in a rally from where he was taken to his residence where he thanked his supporters. Amjad said that he would continue struggle for the rights of Gojra citizens.
Girl found dead in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: A girl was found dead in her house at Chak 3/BC on Tuesday. Natasha was found dead in her house. Later, her body was shifted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital by her family. When the hospital’s emergency ward doctors asked her brother how she died, he said that she committed suicide by shooting herself. The body was sent to the RHC Lal Sohanra for post-mortem.
Three-year-old boy killed in accident

FAISALABAD: A three-year-old boy was killed while his parents sustained injuries in an accident on Chiniot-Faisalabad Road on Tuesday. Yawar Abbas, his wife Sughran Bibi and son Ali Abbas were on their way by a bike when a speeding car hit their bike. As a result, Ali died on the spot while Yawar and Sughran Bibi sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to the Allied Hospital.
Girl dies in roof collapse incident

SIALKOT: A 15-year-old girl died while her younger sister sustained injuries when the roof of their mud house caved in at Kot Mandia village on Tuesday. Munazza and Laiba, daughters of Muhammad Boota, were sleeping when the roof of their mud house collapsed.
As a result, Munazza died on the spot while Laiba sustained injuries. The injured girl was shifted to a hospital.
Man shot dead in Jamrud

JAMRUD: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a man in Shodani area in Jamrud tehsil in Khyber Agency on Tuesday, official sources said. They said that one Shah Muhammad was on his way home when unidentified gunmen fired at him in Shodani area, killing him on the spot. Motive behind the killing could not be ascertained. The Khassadar force registered the case.
LHC drops disciplinary proceedings against sessions judges
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has dropped disciplinary proceedings against additional district and sessions judges, including Muhammad Taimur Hayat and Sadaqatullah Khan, senior civil judge Malik Abid Hussain and civil judge class-1 Muhammad Akram Nawab. Disciplinary proceedings against former civil judge Muhammad Younas Awan have also been abated as the LHC Chief Justice accepted his resignation.

LAHORE: A writ petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking a judicial inquiry into the lynching of two ‘innocent’ men by protesters outside Youhanabad. A local lawyer filed the petition and stated that the lynching of the two men was terrorism and no religion or law allowed that kind of brutality. He said the law gave right to citizens to hold peaceful protest only. The petitioner said the incident not only tarnished the image of Pakistan but also caused harassment. He asked the court to order a judicial inquiry into the matter so that the culprits could be brought to justice. The petitioner also asked the CM and chief secretary to order a judicial inquiry into the suicide attacks on Youhanabad churches.
Open sale of lethal tablets banned in Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab Ombudsman has taken notice of open sale of aluminium phosphide, a lethal tablet, in the province, according to a handout issued here on Tuesday. As per a spokesman of provincial Agriculture Department, only outlets established by the department were authorised to sell the tablets which is used against insects present in the stored wheat and rice. He said that open sale of this tablet was strictly prohibited. The ombudsman has issued instructions in this regard following use of these tablets by people for committing suicide.
‘1,700 Punjab schools without heads’

LAHORE: Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) has strongly criticised Secretary School Education Department for poor administration observing that around 1,700 schools are being run without heads across the province. According to a press release, a joint meeting of PTU office-bearers held here Tuesday, in which the participants expressed strong concerns over indifferent attitude of the secretary schools towards schoolteachers in Punjab. They said teachers were being victimised while services of over 50,000 schoolteachers were not being regularised. The PTU meeting decided that if the department did not address the issues being faced by the teachers by March 31, they would be forced to launch a movement against the Punjab government.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, speaking on the occasion, said there was no doubt in failure of the present government which was adding to the miseries of masses. He said that on all the national issues Imran Khan had taken principled a stand.
