Three suspected members of the Baba Ladla gang were killed in a shootout with Rangers near Rexer Lane in Lyari on Friday night.
A paramilitary soldier was also injured in the encounter.
A Rangers spokesperson identified the three men as Muhammad Hassan, Azhar alias Buddha and Waseem Ahmed.
He added that the three gangsters were involved in over 23 cases of murder and other crimes.
Contractor killed
A contractor was murdered in Gul Goth area of Gulshan-e-Maymar on Saturday.
Super High Industrial Area SHO Rana Haseeb said the contractor, Salman Shah, 35, was ambushed by some men who fired multiple gunshots at him.
The officer suspected that the murder could have been motivated by personal enmity.
A day earlier, two notorious gangsters were gunned down in an early morning encounter with the Kalri police in Lyari’s Daryabad area on Friday.
SSP City Fida Hussain identified the killed gangsters as Baba Ladla group members Jabbar alias Dada and Hafeez alias Chawani and said they had been killed in an intelligence-driven raid. Three of their accomplices, he said, managed to escape.
SSP Hussain said the criminals had opened fire at the police teams and Jabbar and Hafeez were killed by their retaliatory shots. He claimed the duo was wanted for several cases including murders, attacks on law enforcers and extortion. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the hideout.
A suspected Taliban terrorist was shot dead in an encounter with police in Mawach Goth on Wednesday.
A counter-terrorism department official said a raid was conducted at a hideout and in the ensuing shootout, Batoor Shah was killed. Another terrorist was injured and taken into custody. The official said Shah had arrived in the city from Dara Adam Khel and was wanted in several cases.
