Chinese envoy Yao Jing visits RIS

Islamabad : Roots International Schools (RIS) organised a spectacular Chinese festival which was honoured by the presence of respected Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing. The event constituted of stupendous performances by children from various branches of RIS and a number of Chinese stalls arranged by various branches.

Students holding the flags of China and Pakistan greeted the ambassador which was followed by a number of stalls depicting Chinese culture and heritage. Students at the stalls conversed fluently in Chinese with the ambassador and officials from embassy. Students at one of the stalls sang a Chinese song for the ambassador which he strongly commended.

Roots International Schools held this event in commemoration of the Chinese New Year. Students presented a mime on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which gave a very strong message of development and progress being driven to Pakistan through CPEC. The mime was followed by a “Warrior Act” which depicted the Chinese tradition of warrior training. Representation of various Chinese dynasties through performances was the next highlight of the event which was followed by a spectacular performance on China Pakistan friendship song. Lastly, the students gave a marvellous Kungfu performance which spoke bundles about the level of professional taekwondo classes being offered at RIS. The conduction of the event was also done in both Chinese and English Language.

The Chinese ambassador was greatly satisfied and amused with the performances. He, in his closing address remarked that “I feel like I am sitting in my own country”. He strongly commended the efforts of RIS teaching staff and CEO RIS, Walid Mushtaq and was amazed at the Chinese language proficiency and fluency in children of RIS. Yao Jing remarked that the performances of children gave very powerful messages and seeing such talent in the younger generation of Pakistan makes him very optimistic about the future of this country. He strongly appreciated the efforts of visionary leader, educationist and RIS CEO Walid Mushtaq, in making the lives of so many children better and playing a significant role in the economic development of the country by contributing to the backbone of economic development of any country, education.

RIS CEO Walid Mushtaq, on this occasion remarked that with the growing Chinese influx in the country through the CPEC, it has become incumbent upon the younger generation to learn the language and be well aware of the most long lasting friend of Pakistan, China. He said that he truly understands the need of Chinese language in the current era and hence, has a dedicated Chinese language department for this purpose. Here, he mentioned that more than 10,000 children in all branches of RIS are actively learning the language so they can contribute to the most important project of economic development of Pakistan, CPEC. He strongly appreciated the efforts of RIS staff and heads, especially the foreign languages coordinator Ms. Zara, for organising such a wonderful event.
