IIU launches smoking-free campus drive

Islamabad: The International Islamic University has launched a one-month-long campaign to make the campus smoking free and advocate ways to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

As part of the drive, a programme was held on women's campus, where its director, Dr. Farkhanda Zia, was in the chair. Senior medical officer Dr. Asia Tahir as the resource person engaged participants in daily exercises to stay healthy.

Ms Rabia Mushtaq, lecturer of the Psychology Department, highlighted the element of willpower for adopting healthy activities. Dr Farkhanda Zia said cleanliness was greatly highlighted by Islam. She said other universities, colleges and schools should come forward for such campaigns.

Dr Farkhanda hailed assistant directors Jehanzaib Waqas and Nadia Malik for their efforts regarding the campaign, which will continue on all university campuses until the middle of March featuring class discussions, walks, motivational videos, dissemination of awareness material and other constructive activities.
