Senate polls: Six candidates withdraw papers from Punjab

LAHORE: On the last day for withdrawal of nominations papers from Senate polls six aspirants have withdrawn their nomination papers from Punjab.

Monday was the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers. The aspirants who have withdrawn their nomination papers include Ishaq Dar on general seat, Hina Rabbani Khar, Shiza Fatima, Sami Ullah, Mian Miraj Din, William Micheal and one other.

It is pertinent to mention here that Ishaq Dar had submitted his nomination papers on two different categories, including general and technocrat. After withdrawal of nomination papers now a total of 20 candidates are in the run for Senate elections from Punjab.

The polls will take place on March 3 for 12 Senate seats from Punjab which include seven general, two each for technocrats and women and one for non-Muslim. Polling will be held in provincial assembly building, Lahore for Punjab, provincial assembly building, Karachi for Sindh, provincial assembly building Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar for KP and provincial assembly building, Quetta for Balochistan.
