DRAP asks provinces to comply with Drug Sales Rules

Islamabad: The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), which issues at least one press release a day to build its shattered image, has asked Chairmen of the Provincial Quality Control Boards of Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and AJK to ensure strict compliance of Drug Sales Rules, particularly those related to sale of medicines containing controlled substances.

According to a DRAP spokesperson, the step has been taken to improve the legitimate use of controlled medicines and to stop their misuse. “It has been observed that pharmacies and distributors are not maintaining proper sale record of medicines and products containing controlled substances. It is mandatory to maintain the complete sale records of medicines containing controlled substances; moreover, such medicines cannot be sold without the prescription of a registered medical practitioner,” a press release issed on Monday states.
