“We have started operation after marking shops and markets coming in right of way. This operation would continue until all buildings marked by Revenue Department are razed,” Khurram Khan Jadoon, the additional assistant commissioner, told reporters.

A joint team of Tehsil Municipal Administration, Revenue Department and police pulled down shops at Chikiar and Kaghan roads.

The ongoing operation has been launched on the order of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary to destroy concrete buildings and other sort of encroachments in the city and its suburbs.

The deputy convener, Tehsil Municipal Administration, Mian Abrar rushed to the Chikiar Road and assured the joint team that traders and shopkeepers would remove encroachments themselves on the Chikiar Road. They should be given some time for it.
