VENICE: While the super blue blood moon grabbed all eyes on it for its striking splendor, it was also a root of difficulty for some, like what used to be the dreamy Italian city of Venice.
The low tides caused by the super blue blood moon phenomenon left renowned Venetian gondolas forsaken on what used to be canals providing not only money for the gondoliers but were also the only mode of transportation for the Venetians.
The city’s canals were malformed into grubby channels which led the waterways to close down completely; whereas The Grand Canal was the only traffic strip that remained open for water buses.
This was the third time that the lagoon city had faced a considerable drop in the water levels with a decline of up to 60cm lower than usual. According to reports, two years ago a related situation had emerged where the water levels had dropped 70cms below than average.
