Islamabad: Education and literature play a key role in mental and spiritual upbringing of people in a society, said President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday.
"The literature informs young generation about the achievements of their ancestors besides teaching them to ways to protect their literary heritage and play a constructive role in the society," he told adviser to the prime minister on national history and literary heritage division Irfan Siddiqui, who called on him here at the Aiwan-i-Sadr.
The president said the organisations serving in the fields of literature, history and education under the National History and Literary Heritage Division were playing laudable role to promote peace, brotherhood in the society.
He appreciated the performance of adviser Irfan Siddiqui and hoped that he would continue playing his role to further improve the performance of those institutions. The adviser apprised the president about the performance of the organisations working under his division.
