ISLAMABAD: On the recommendation of law enforcing agencies, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked website of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) with immediate effect.
“Yes, we have blocked the website of MWM after receiving recommendations from the law enforcing agencies to this effect,” top official sources in the PTA told The News here on Monday. However, the sources said the PTA could not ascertain reasons that why such recommendation came from the law enforcing agencies.
“We had received such instructions in case of prescribed organisations,” an official said and added that they had received orders from the competent authority and complied with them. The official said they received instructions from the government for blocking different websites and they complied with such instructions. The blocking of content has now come under the jurisdiction of the PTA so they moved ahead promptly after receiving instructions to this effect.
