NOWSHERA: Chairman of the Chief Minister Complaint Cell, Hussain Ahmad Khattak, on Friday ordered investigation into the alleged use of substandard material in development projects in the district.

He stopped the contractor from carrying out construction work till further order. The chairman took the notice on the complaints of district councillor and local residents who had reported the use of substandard material in construction of a road and drain in Amangarh Union Council.

The road and drain were being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs50 million. Hussain Ahmad Khattak inspected the development work, checked the quality of material being used in the projects and stopped development work on these schemes. The locals alleged the contractor was using substandard material in the construction of the road and drain.

They complained the Communication and Works Department officials didn't keep any check on the constriction work on the two projects despite repeated complaints. The contractor, Abdul Razzaq, rejected the allegations and offered himself for investigation.
