PESHAWAR: Training has been started under the Training of Trainers (TOT) Project to improve the skill and capabilities of tribeswomen.
The TOT Project, in its second phase, has been jointly launched by Aik Hunar Aik Nagar (AHAN) in collaboration with Fata Development Authority (FDA).“The six months long project will provide opportunity to master trainers working at 72 skill centers of Fata to get advanced training in food preservation, marble mosaic and candle making,” said Sayed Zahid Ali Shah, regional coordinator for AHAN, KP. These master trainers, who are in charge of Skill Development Centers in Fata and Frontier Regions, will pass on the skill to trainees after completing own training in these three disciplines.In the session of training comprising over 12 days, 34 tribal women are getting training in food preservation skill.
In the second session, around 60 beneficiaries from Fata, mostly junior trainers, will get training in marble mosaic and candle making skills, Zahid added. He said the projects are aimed at not only developing the skills of the trainees but also to help them develop sustainable linkages with business forum and large business houses, he added.It is for this reason that the trainees in the first phase were given exposure visits to various markets of Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Lok Virsa.
