NAB to focus on taking action against big fish: chairman

Islamabad: National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal said that corruption is curse as fighting such menaces is tantamount to waging Jihad, says a press release.
Addressing a ceremony of distributing the looted money of 175 victims of nine different Housing Societies/Govt Departments, at NAB Headquarters.
He said evil forces seem to be powerful sans having any solid footings on grounds. He said righteous person has to win as honesty is bound to prevail ultimately by Allah. Reiterating firm resolve of NAB to ensure nabbing the mighty, NAB chairman said that out of 179 mega corruption cases, NAB has filed 96 corruption references in the relevant Accountability Courts. The remaining cases would soon be steered to their logical conclusion. He said NAB will focus on taking action against big fish. He said that various cooperative and private housing societies have neither allotted plots to investing poor people, widows, government pensioners and orphans nor returned their hard earned money of their people who were already running from pillar to post to get their money back.
He said he had made it clear in his first address immediately after assuming the responsibilities of Chairman NAB that NAB will utilize all its resources to help recovering the looted money from cooperative and private housing societies. He said it was heartening to note that NAB has fulfilled the promises by returning the looted money of 175 victims of nine cooperative and private housing societies. He said a lot would have to be done in future in this regard.
He urged the people to avoid investing in fake and illegal housing societies and invest only in legal cooperative and private housing societies after proper scrutiny. He expressed firm resolve to ensure across the board accountability now onwards. Deputy Chairman Imtiaz Tajwar, DG Rawalpindi and senior officers of NAB were also present on the occasion.
