JAMRUD: Tribal elders have opposed the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, Malik Abdul Ghaffar, Malik Ismail, Malik Salahuddin, Malik Manan and others said that they would oppose the introduction of ‘thana culture’ in Fata. They said that merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the first step towards the implementation of ‘thana culture’ in Fata. The elders said that Fata should be declared a separate province, adding that they were in favour of the reforms in Fata but the input of the tribespeople should be taken for that.
