Privatisation of PTV out of question, says Marriyum
ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said that privatisation of Pakistan Television was out of question adding that the privatisation was not solution of the problems.
Marriyum said she will not do anything which will reflect the perception that any kind of privatisation of PTV is being done. She said no PTV employee will be sacked. She said term of the current government will end in June 2018 and the government will make all possible efforts to restore the ideology of PTV.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said this while addressing the cake cutting ceremony on the occasion of the 53rd establishment day of PTV at the PTV Headquarters. She said the PTV has reached at a position where the other channels compete with PTV and PTV has not competition with any other channel.
Marriyum said that there should be difference of opinion but one should have the courage to listen the opinion of the opponent adding that this attitude will take country and PTV forward. She said PTV should have to detach itself from the politics and employees should have to work for PTV.
She said PTV is the name of ideology adding that all the employees should promise and start speaking truth from PTV. She said only speaking truth could restore the respect of PTV. She said we all should have to work for the restoration of the state broadcaster. She said that commercial or business values are not the priority of the PTV.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that 65 percent population of Pakistan consists on youth and youth of the country need some direction and there are several directions around us. She said the government is not going to privatise PTV World or any other channel of PTV adding that the privatisation is not the solution of problems.
