OKARA: A woman burnt her husband alive for ‘honour’ in Kot Jan Muhammad on Wednesday. Mushtaq Ahmad and his wife Nasreen Bibi had doubts about each other’s character and used to quarrel over the issue. On the day of the incident, Nasreen Bibi allegedly burnt her husband alive by sprinkling petrol on him. Their three-year-old son Abdullah, who was sitting nearby, also received minor burns. Mushtaq was shifted to a Lahore hospital in critical condition. The Basirpur police have arrested accused Nasreen after registering a case against her.
Couple shot dead in Haripur

HARIPUR: A couple was shot dead over a property dispute in the limits of Kot Najibullah Police Station here on Wednesday, police sources said.The sources said Ali Arif and his wife, Tahzeem Bibi, were working at the farmhouse when Nadeem, Maqsood, Ghazanfar Shah and three women opened fire on them. The couple died on the spot and the accused managed to escape, the source added. The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Haripur for autopsy and later handed over to relatives for burial.
Police foil Okara bus dacoity

OKARA: Seven dacoits reportedly of Kasur origin intercepted a Multan-bound bus and tried to take it towards Okara-Depalpur highway but quick action of police frustrated their bid. The dacoits intercepted the bus near village 14/1L. An encounter between police and dacoits continued for half an hour. The dacoits left the bus and ran away.
Ex-guard stages demo against MPA over threats
GUJRANWALA: A former guard along with his family staged a demonstration against ruling party MPA Shaukat Manzoor Cheema for allegedly threatening him. Muhammad Islam and his family demonstrated outside the CPO Office. Talking to newsmen, M Islam said that the MPA allegedly thrashed him and registered fake criminal cases against him when he refused to follow his orders. He said that the MPA also removed him from the job. He appealed to the CM and the CPO to save him from tyranny of the MPA. In the meantime, the Sadr SP held talks with the protesters and assured them of justice.
