MANSEHRA: The councillors of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, except one, voted against own party’s tehsil nazim and naib nazim during polling on a no-confidence motion in Balakot on Friday.
All the 15 PML-N councillors except one voted against PML-N Nazim Rustam Khan and Naib Nazim Sardar Abdul Qudus.
A PML-N councillor, Mian Salahuddin, presided over the polling and announced unofficial results at the end of the voting on no-confidence motion moved against nazim and naib nazim earlier this week.
“In the 19-member council, 15 voted against the nazim and naib nazim as only one councillor voted against the no-confidence motion and I presided over the voting as acting convener,” Salahuddin told reporters.
He said he would dispatch the results of voting on no-confidence motion to the Election Commission of Pakistan so that it could issue a schedule for election of nazim.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf councillor Ibrahim Ahmad Shah and PML-N councillor Sardar Liaqat Khassana had moved fresh no-confidence motion against the ousted tehsil nazim Rustam Khan and naib nazim Sardar Abdul Qudus earlier this week after the Abbottabad Circuit Bench of the Peshawar High Court annulled the no-confidence proceedings on earlier motion moved by both of them last week.
