PO’s relatives baton-charged for attacking police station

BUREWALA: Sadr police baton-charged the relatives of a proclaimed offender after they allegedly attacked the police station to get him released on Sunday.
Police arrested proclaimed offender Mumtaz Hussain alias Totta of Chak 519/EB after an encounter at a check post on Saturday night. The next morning, Asghar Ali, Imran, Akhtar Ali, Allah Din, Abdul Jabbar, Irshad, Zulfiqar, Nawaz, Sham Din, Muhammad Din, Muhammad Ali, Anwar Bibi and Guddi blocked Lahore-Multan Road in front of the police station. Later, they allegedly attacked the police station. As a result, Constable Abdul Razzaq was injured. On information, heavy police contingent reached there and baton-charged the PO’s relatives. Police arrested four of his relatives after registering a case against more than 40 people under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Meanwhile, Vehari DPO Sadiq Ali Dogar said that Mumtaz was a member of the inter-district dacoits gang and was wanted by police of different districts.
