As part of the Charter of Humanity recently signed between the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and the Ittehad Tanzemat Madaris Pakistan (a representative body of all religious schools of thought), PRCS Wednesday started imparting first aid training and conducting the blood screening to the staff and students of Madrassah Dar-ul Uloom Nidvatul Ulema.
As a first step, over 500 staff and students are being given first aid training. Blood screening of the participants was also done and they were informed about their blood groups.
Speaking on the occasion, PRCS Chairman Dr. Saeed Elahi said that as part of the Charter of Humanity, PRCS has started training students and staff of madrassas so that they can play a role during major disasters. “This is the first batch of students; they will also serve as trainers and will reach every mosque and madrassa even at the village level to train the staff and students of local mosques and madaris,” he maintained.
Dr. Saeed said, PRCS will provide first aid boxes to each mosque and madrassa to respond to any eventuality in their areas. He said, eminent scholars, ‘khateebs’ and students will also be part of the anti-polio campaign, and will administer anti-polio drops in their respected areas.
Mufti Muhammad Saeed, head of Madrassah Darul Uloom Nidvatul Ulema thanked PRCS for focusing on madrassa students. “Such steps will not only create awareness among these students but will also motivate them to contribute positively towards the betterment of the society,” he remarked.
