Islamabad: Finally, the Azadi Train finished its fortnight journey on Thursday while reaching the Islamabad Carriage Factory. Azadi Train was on 15 days journey. This journey started from Margalla Station on August 12 and culminated at Karachi Cantt Station. It touched Peshawar Cantt, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Okara, Multan, Khanpur, Sukkhar, Sibbi, Quetta, Nawabshah, Tandu Adam, Hyderabad and Kotri.
FAISALABAD: A vegetable dealer was killed during a foiled dacoity here on Thursday. Adnan Ahmad, a resident of Dawood Colony, was burnt alive when dacoits fired at a rickshaw.
DERA GHAZI KHAN: Wapda Chairman Muzamil Hussain Thursday, talking to reporters at Taunsa barrage during a ceremony on the eve of discharge of water in Kachhi Canal, said the mega project has been completed with the cost of Rs 80 billion. He said the project would irrigate 72,000 acres of land in the first phase, saying that the project was launched in 2002.
LAHORE: District government has imposed Section 144 in the city during Eid days and no one will be allowed to throw waste. Lahore Deputy Commissioner Sumair Ahmed Syed said this while chairing a meeting on cleanliness and implementation of section 144 during Eid days on Thursday. The meeting was attended by ADC (HQ), Assistant Commissioners, officers of LWMC, Rescue 1122 Civil Defence, MCL and others. Civil Defence, Rescue 1122, LWMC and MCL officers briefed the DC about their working plan during Eid days. Rescue 1122 officers said special duties of officials had been ordered during Eid days.
