This was stated by Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair in a meeting on Friday with a delegation of political leaders from Thatta led by PML-N MPA Syed Aijaz Shah Sheerazi.

Elaborating on the details of the uplift projects, the governor said civic infrastructure would be upgraded and restored while industrial areas would be developed to promote sustainable socio-economic growth.

The development packages also contain projects specifically aimed at public welfare and improvement of general life quality for the citizens of these cities, he said.

Governor Zubair said Thatta’s exceptional historical importance warranted efforts for due global recognition and called for immediate efforts to safeguard the region’s archaeological sites.

He added that the development package announced for Thatta would be used for construction of a public sector hospital, launching of a ‘health card’ system for deserving people, provision of clean potable water to residents of villages in the area and other such public welfare initiatives.

The governor said economic reforms introduced by the present government had increased the confidence of prospective foreign investors and were promoting new business initiatives in Pakistan. He added that foreign investment had always been helpful for alleviation of poverty and unemployment, which was why efforts to increase investment were accorded priority.

Zubair told the visitors that the federal government would initiate mega development projects for provision of civic facilities to the people of Thatta and would use latest technology to safeguard archaeological sites of the district.

He said special institutes would be established to provide skills-based learning and higher education opportunities to the youth of Thatta so that they could play their due part for the progress and development of the city.
