Monsoon currents penetrating

LAHORE: Hot and humid weather continued to prevail in the city here Wednesday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions with chances of scattered rain in the next 24 hours.

Met officials said seasonal low lies over north Balochistan while monsoon currents are penetrating upper and central parts of country. They added that a westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist during next few days.

Met officials predicted that rain-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Mirpurkhas, Zhob divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Fata & Gilgit-Baltistan while hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.

Rainfall was recorded at several cities, including Risalpur (46mm), DI Khan (18mm), Kamra (34mm), Islamabad (Saidpur 29mm, Bokra 15mm, Golra 03mm, Z.P Trace), Gujranwala (16mm), Sialkot (City 14mm, A/P Trace), Jhelum, Gujrat and Rawalpindi (02mm), Mianwali, Mangla and Mandi Bahauddin (01mm), Nagarparker (07mm) and Kotli (03mm). Wednesday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Dadu and Turbat where mercury reached 44°C while in Lahore, it was 35°C, minimum was 28°C and humidity was 52 percent.
