The electric wires left open in the green belt of newly constructed E-11 Service Road may cause danger to pedestrians or even motorists in the monsoon season.

The construction of the Service Road in Sector E-11 has been completed in the recent past but the contractor has left the electric wires open in the green belt in violation of the rules and procedures. "The electric wires are present all over the green belt so any untoward incident can happen in the rainy season. It was responsibility of the contractor to complete his work but instead he left the project in the doldrums," said Asif Kiyani, a resident of E-11 sector.

The official record showed that the establishment of the sewerage system, installation of street lights and road sign boards, lane marking, construction of retaining wall and landscaping along the road was also in the scope of the project.

Deputy Mayor Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi said he would visit the E-11 Service
Road and personally review the construction work and if he finds any kind of wrongdoing a strict action would be taken against the contractor.

He said no electric wire can be left open in the capital city that has completely underground electricity system so any violation in this respect would not be tolerated at any cost.
