PPP candidate Senator Saeed Ghani, along with Dow University of Health Sciences’ (DUHS) vice chancellor, inaugurated a month-long free dental treatment camp at Dow International Dental College and Hospital on Monday.
The camp has been set up at a health facility in Mehmoodabad, which is part of the PS-114 constituency where Ghani is contesting a by-election on July 9. “I’m inaugurating this free camp because I had a role in the establishment of the dental college and hospital. Earlier, this was an urban health centre but after my efforts it was given to the DUHS and turned into a modern health facility,” Ghani told The News.
The senator denied that the camp had anything to do with his election campaign, stating that if he wanted to gain political mileage he would have invited CM Murad Ali Shah for the inauguration.
“There has been no publicity of this camp and only people of this area know about the facility.” Ghani said his opponents were spending millions on electioneering while he, being a common political worker and resident of the constituency, had been serving the area for decades. “People of this area know me well and I have served them for years now. This free dental camp is not part of my election campaign.”
DUHS VC Prof Saeed Quraishy said the camp would provide an opportunity for area residents to access quality treatment for free.
