The police said Muhammad Ijlan and Mohsin Ali, both around 10 years old, were arrested from a locality in the jurisdiction of the Ferozabad police station because they were riding a stolen motorbike.

The parents of the two minors, however, claimed that Ijlan and Mohsin were stopped by the police and asked to pay “Eidi”, but when they did not comply, the law enforcers brought them to the police station and implicated them in a false case.

Woman remanded

A woman who had tried to supply heroin to her addict husband was remanded to prison on judicial remand. Umar Zai, wife of detained Hayat Khan, had visited her husband at the Central Jail Karachi and tried to pass him a small plastic bag of heroin when she was arrested.

The investigating officer told the court of the judicial magistrate No 28 (East) that Umar Zai visited her husband to apparently provide him with soap bars and other provisions, but they contained heroin packets, which were recovered by the prison staff.

The IO said Rs5,000 were also recovered from the woman, adding that a case against her was registered at the New Town police station.

Umar Zai told the court that she had received a message from her husband, who was facing difficulties in the jail because of his addiction.

She said her husband had directed her to provide him with drugs in secret. She admitted that her husband was a habitual criminal, saying that she had no other option but to live with him.

Hayat Khan is already facing charges of drug smuggling. The court remanded his wife Umar Zai to prison until July 7.
