LAHORE: Khursheed Begum, widow of renowned intellectual and journalist Agha Shorish Kashmiri was laid to rest at a local graveyard on Monday.
Khursheed Begum was also the mother of Press Secretary to Governor Punjab, Agha Mashood Shorish, and Agha Masood. She passed away on Sunday after a protracted illness. A large number of people, journalists, officials attended her Namaz e Janaza which was held at Masjid e Shuhada, The Mall, close to the residence of Agha Shorish Kashmiri. Noted figures who attended the funeral of Khursheed Begum included Secretary General Jamat e Islami Liaqut Baloch, PPP stalwart Pir Nazim Hussain Shah, Awami National Party’s Ehsan Wyne, Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali, Khateeb Badshahi Masjid Abdul Khabeer Azad, PML-N member Asgher Butt and others.
Governor Punjab Rafique Rajwana, in a telephonic contact from London to his Press Secretary Agha Mashood expressed condolence over the death of his mother. He stated that Khursheed Begum was a woman of strong nerves who sided with her late husband Agha Shorish Kashmiri and brought up her children in the best way.
Former Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, former MPA Dr Zia Ullah Khan Bangash, Tanvir Butt, human right activist Abdullah Malik and others expressed condolence over the death of Agha Shorish Kashmiri’s wife.
