The doctors have also threatened the management of the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) of closing the hospitals if their demands are accepted.

In the first phase doctors have been performing duties under protest while wearing black ribbons around their shoulders.

The doctors of social security hospitals have been demanding of the Punjab Government and PESSI management to revive their service structure and bring the same at par with medical professional working in hospitals of the Health Department.

“In the next phase we will stage protest demonstrations across the province and then all social security hospitals will be closed down,” the spokesman for protesting doctors said.

The protest of doctors of hospitals which come in jurisdiction of PESSI started their protest, last week and in this connection, they also organised demonstrations outside the hospitals.

They said that circumstances have forced specialists and other doctors to quit their jobs at social security hospitals. “If the same situation continues, there will be no medical facility left for the workers and labour class in the province,” they said.
