JIT to bring forth facts: Pervaiz Elahi

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q senior central leader and former deputy prime minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi visited the residence of former MPA from Attock the late Sardar Sarfraz Khan of Khunda and offered condolences on his death to his family. He said the political, social and parliamentary services of late Sardar Sarfraz would always be remembered. Afterwards, talking to the media, Ch Pervaiz Elahi, responding to a question about claims of rulers regarding Panama and News Leaks, said the nation did not need to be disappointed, the JIT investigating Panama Leaks under the Supreme Court would bring forth the facts.

Army’s stay in capital extended for 90 days

ISLAMABAD: Army’s deputation in Islamabad is being extended for another 90 days. The army was deputed in the federal capital under Article 245 of the Constitution. The 90-day extension in the army’s stay is accorded due to the security concerns. A notification in this regard has been issued.

Farmer shot dead

KASUR: A farmer was shot dead in the limits of the Allahabad police on Wednesday. Muhammad Munir of Khajorwala village was on his way home after dropping his children in a local seminary when two unidentified accused shot him dead. Meanwhile, Muhammad Ashfaq was on his way when two dacoits snatched cash and other valuables from him near the Allahabad Town.

Motorcyclist dies in accident

PAKPATTAN: A motorcyclist was killed and his sister suffered injuries in a road accident on Wednesday. Reportedly, Muhammad Shafique of Chak 12/SP and his sister were moving on a motorcycle and near Adda Bongga Hayyat on Depalpur Road a van hit them. As a result, Shafique died on the spot and his sister fractured her both legs. She was rushed to hospital.

Shop owner kills cop for demanding discount

FAISALABAD: A police constable was allegedly tortured to death by the owner of a furniture shop and his employees at Raza Abad. Aziz Ahmad with two others went to the shop of M Javaid to purchase furniture for Darul Aman of Ghulam Muhammad Abad. He requested the shop owner to reduce the price, but he flatly refused. When Aziz insisted on the discount as furniture was being purchased for Darul Aman, Javed became furious and with the help of his employees dragged him into a side room of the shop and severely tortured him. As a result, Aziz died on the spot. Raza Abad police have registered a case M Javaid and others.

TAKHTBHAI: Members of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) staged on Wednesday a protest against the recent attack on the convoy of party leader and Deputy Chairman of Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri in the Mastung district in Balochistan. The protesters gathered in Shergarh Bazaar and chanted slogans, asking the government to arrest the perpetrators behind the act of subversion that claimed lives of people.

Officials of irrigation department arrested

NAWABSHAH: Police of Qazi Ahmed town arrested officials of the irrigation department instead of accused nominated in canal water theft case. Sindh Muttahida Federation Irrigation President Allah Bux Dhamra told media that an FIR against seven persons, including PPP’s Qazi Ahmed leader Ghulam Mustafa Soomro and his brother Abdis Soomro was lodged at the Qazi Ahmed Police Station on the charges of stealing water from Malwah District through illegal pipes. He said that the police had arrested staff members of the irrigation department instead of arresting the culprits. He said that if this would continue then how the canal water theft would stop. He vowed to widen the net of protests if fake FIR was not withdrawn and action was not taken against accused persons.
