KU announces PhD, MPhil written test results

The Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR), University of Karachi, announced on Monday the results of admission tests for MPhil, PhD, MS and MD programmes for the year 2017.

BASR convener for admissions Professor Dr Muhammad Ahmed Qadri said that the results had been uploaded onto the website of the varsity.

He mentioned that 2,970 candidates appeared in the entrance tests, and of them 1,375 candidates were declared successful. The passing percentage was 46.2 percent.

He said 2,527 students appeared in the MPhil test, and 1, 133 of them were declared successful, 336 appeared in the PhD test and 175 of them were declared successful. A total of 63 students appeared in MS, and 44 were declared successful. Forty-four students sat the MD test and 23 of them students were declared successful.

In the faculty of social sciences, 736 students appeared in the entrance test in which 376 were declared successful and the passing percentage remained 51 percent.

As many as 1,171 students appeared in the faculty of science. Of them, 487 were declared successful and passing percentage remained 41 percent, while 312 students appeared in faculty of Islamic studies, and 187 were declare successful and the passing percentage was 60 percent.

As per the results, in the faculty of management and administrative sciences, 273 students appeared in the test and 97 were declared successful, showing 35.05 passing percentage.

The results show that 212 students appeared in the faculty of pharmacy and 96 were declared successful. The passing percentage remained 45 percent. A total of 106 students sat the test in the faculty of education and 53 of them were declared successful. The passing percentage was 50 percent.

Also, 52 students appeared in the faculty of law and 12 students were declared successful. The passing percentage remained 23 percent.
