Narcotics worth Rs118 million recovered in ANF operations

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) recovered a huge cache of drugs from different parts of the country, including 15.3 kilograms of heroin, 1.02 kilograms of methamphetamine (ice) and 13.14 kilograms of charas in 7 operations carried out against drug mafia across the country, the ANF (Headquarters) said.
During the operations, nine persons involved in drug trafficking were arrested and two vehicles were seized. The value of recovered drugs approximately Rs118.047 million in the international market. Most drugs were being smuggled for local consumption.
The ANF Rawalpindi acted upon a tip-off and arrested a notorious drug distributor namely Amir Shahzad, a resident of Attock. His arrest resulted in recovery of 400 grams of heroin from his possession. As per initial reports, the accused is a professional drug distributor at local level and has been convicted twice in drug cases. He was arrested near village Bosal, Attock.
The ANF Lahore Road team, during checking near Thokar Niaz Baig Motorway Interchange, Lahore, intercepted a suspected Toyota Corolla car (ICT-608-RC). The detailed search of the car led to recovery of 14 kilograms of heroin. Heroin was tactfully concealed in improvised cavities of the car. A person on board namely Hussain Muhammad, resident of Peshawar, was taken into custody. As per initial reports, he was coming from Peshawar and intended to deliver heroin to a narcotics gang in Lahore city.
The ANF Peshawar Road team, on search of a passenger of a Suzuki Van (3844) near Indus Highway Bridge, Rawalpindi Road, Kohat, arrested four drug traffickers namely Noor Rehman, Nasar Ullah Khan, Zahir Khan and Siraj Khan, all residents of Kohat. Their arrest resulted in recovery of 8.4 kilograms of charas, which was contained in a plastic bag placed in passenger compartment of the van. As per preliminary investigation, they were proceeding to Rawalpindi for delivery of drugs to a peddler.
The ANF Karachi Airport team during routine profiling at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, detained a passenger namely Farrukh Zubair, a resident of Lahore, and recovered 1.02 kilograms of methamphetamine (ice) from his possession. Ice was tactfully concealed inside the packing of embroidered shirts. He intended to board for Bangkok by Thai Airlines flight (TG-342).
The ANF Karachi on pursuance of information seized a parcel containing baby jackets and recovered 0.9 kilogram of heroin concealed inside jackets. The parcel was destined for the UK. According to information, the parcel was booked by Haris Ali, resident of Okara, and was intended to be received by Nasir Bhatti, residing at Oldham, UK.
The ANF Karachi Airport team apprehended Muhammad Nadeem, resident of Sheikhupura, passenger of Air Lanka flight (UL-183) bound for Colombo on suspicion of having gulped heroin-filled capsules. During interrogation, the accused confessed to having ingested heroin-filled capsules. He was shifted to the hospital for recovery of heroin capsules.
The ANF Karachi apprehended a local drug supplier, Ali Sher, resident of Matyari, and recovered 5 kilograms of charas from his possession. He was arrested during an operation conducted at village Majidano, Matyari. The accused is reportedly involved in supply of drugs to nearby localities.
