The provincial education department is striving hard to provide better education facilities to the students of rural areas of Sindh, the minister for education and literacy said on Thursday.
Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said at a ceremony for a memorandum of understanding, which was signed between the Sindh Education Foundation and the A. Q. Khan Schooling System, Islamabad.
He mentioned that through the agreement, 200 students from SEF schools would be able to get quality education in the A. Q. Khan Schooling System for seven years.
“The A. Q. Khan Schooling System will conduct a test in Urdu, English, mathematics and science for those students who have passed class five while studying in schools managed by the SEF in remote areas of Sindh.”
According to the minister, the test will be conducted in the second week of May and the successful students will commence their studies in the federal capital on July 1 this year.
He further said that the SEF would pay Rs15, 000 quarterly for the tuition fee and lodging and boarding of each student, and successful students would complete their higher secondary education in Islamabad.
SEF Managing Director Naheed Durrani, representatives of the A. Q. Khan Schooling System, Dr Nasir Iqbal and Dr Kashif Ali also witnessed agreement-signing ceremony.
