Department of Mass Communication, Allama Iqbal Open University organised a three week-long interactive workshop for the research scholars of Ph.D. It was the third workshop of the PhD Mass Communication (Autumn 2017) students which was started on March 16 and concluded on April 4.
Dean of Social Sciences and Chairman of Department of Mass Communication Professor Dr. Syed Abdul Siraj led the workshop; Associate Professor Dr. Saqib Riaz and Associate Professor Dr. Bakht Rawan were the prominent discussants during the sessions.
During the workshop the students got the guidance for improvement of their proposals from the worthy professors. They were facilitated in selecting and developing their research topics and proposals.
The aim of the interactive sessions was to train the research scholars; how to write the research synopsis of the Ph.D thesis; this included, how to write introduction, statement of the problem, literature review, theoretical framework, research questions/hypothesis, methodology and referencing.
At the end of the third and comprehensive workshop for PhD Mass Communication, Autumn 15 session, the participants sat for long hours for the comprehensive examination, and gone through tough and comprehensive viva voce, as this is pre-requisite before the start of research work for their thesis/desertion.
At the conclusion, the participants were assigned the topics for their research work and their supervisors were also nominated. The topics are realistically innovative for research in media studies.
The eleven research scholars, Hayam Qayyum, Nazia Bibi, Abdul Rehman Qaisar, Ghani Rahman, Mian Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Ashraf Wani, Muhammad Sher Juni, Muhammad Yousaf, Masaud Hassan, Salman Amin and Syed Anis Ahmad participated in the inclusive event. They enthusiastically participated in the discussions, and were cheerful on completion of their coursework and end of workshops.
