New metro service likely to be inaugurated on August 14 by PM

The arrangements are being made to ensure completion of Metro Bus Service from Peshawar Morr to New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA) till August 14 this year in tandem with the inauguration of NIIA on the directives of the prime minister.

An official said the prime minister has expressed the desire that he wanted to inaugurate both the projects on August 14 giving the people the gifts of Metro Bus Service and state-of-the-art airport at this auspicious occasion.

It is pertinent to mention here that a new metro bus service has also been planned from Saddar and outside districts to Motorway Chowk and the NIIA thus connecting main areas of the twin cities through a network of this modern bus service.

National Highway Authority (NHA) Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tarar said the project of Metro Bus Service from Peshawar Mor to NIIH would be completed in two packages and four interchanges, ten stations and fourteen bus stops would be constructed on the route.

"All out arrangements are being made and the Metro Bus Service will be inaugurated by the prime minister on August 14, 2017 along with the inauguration of the NIIA. We have already approved hiring of consultants for the project that has been divided into two packages: Peshawar Morr to G-13 and from G-13 to N-5 Interchange," he said.
