Tanveer Buledi, younger brother of notorious Lyari gangster Ameen Buledi, was shot dead by unidentified men in Baghdadi, Lyari on late Thursday night.

Kalri police officer Nadeem Baloch said some men fired gunshots at Tanveer near Benazir Bakery in Baghdadi and escaped.

He was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where doctors pronounced him dead.

It is feared that the murder of Buledi’s brother might trigger a new wave of violence in Lyari, where peace has been restored after great efforts by the law enforcement agencies in the ongoing operation in the city.

“Tanveer was involved in murder and extortion cases,” said a police officer, who wished not to be named. “He was wanted by police for killing Muttahida Qaumi Movement activists,” he added.
