On the law ministry’s directives, the Sindh Ombudsman has formed a ‘Human Rights Complaint Register Cell’ under the supervision of Director General-I, Secretariat Sindh Ombudsman.
The head of the Directorate of Human Rights, Zia Ahmed Awan, Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan and the director of Minority Affairs would be members of the cell.
The main responsibilities of the unit would be to develop a mechanism for the prevention and redressal of human rights violations.
Identification of vulnerable sections of society and the submission of relevant data to the Sindh Ombudsman would also be part of its tasks.
