NOWSHERA: Owing to the outstanding arrears on account of power tariff, the officials of the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) Saturday cut off power supply to the camp for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Khyber Agency.
The Pesco officials said that the power supply to the tents of the IDPs from Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency in Jalozai area has been disconnected due to non-payment of Rs20 million utility bills.
They said that they had left with no other option but to cut off the power supply to the tents as neither the Provincial Disaster Management Authority nor the Fata Disaster Management Authority paid the bills. The IDPs set 48-hour deadline for restoration of the power supply to the camp and threatened to launch a protest campaign if the government failed to accept their demands.
