70pc schools lack proper security in Nankana

NANKANA SAHIB: About 70 per cent educational institutions have failed to implement the Punjab government’s order to make security arrangements before their opening on January 12.
After the Peshawar massacre, the Punjab government had closed all government and private educational institutions till January 12 to avoid any untoward incident. The DCO was ordered to ensure foolproof security besides raising the boundary wall of institutions to eight feet, erecting barbed wires, deployment of security guards and installations of CCTV cameras.
There are 745 government and 494 private schools in addition to eight government and 13 private colleges in the district. The boundary wall of over 70 per cent institutions, including Government Degree College, Boys Elementary School Canada Colony, and Special Education Centre, have not been raised till the filing of this story. It is pity that even work could not be started in this regard, while the Punjab government had ordered to complete security arrangements till January 9.
When contacted, DPO Kamran Yousaf said that there were 1,240 schools in the district and of them, 14 were the most sensitive and 86 sensitive. He said he would visit schools to ensure security measures. He added that the schools not complying with the orders would not be allowed opening. EDO Education Misbah Talat said that the schools having NOCs from the district administration would be opened on January 12.
