NOWSHERA: The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) arranged on Sunday a thrilling water rafting activity at Kabul River from Jahangira town to old Attock bridge.
The activity was conducted in collaboration with Adventure Edge Private Ltd to promote and highlight adventure tourism in the province. A large number of adventure lovers youth, both men and women, participated in the wonderful alluring activity.
The organisers said TCKP arranged the rafting activity for the first time in Kabul River. “It is a good step for the promotion of adventure tourism in the region and portrayal of positive and soft image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” said Waqar Ahmad, who was a participant of the thrilling activity.
Women from various sections of the society were the enthusiastic participants among others. The young women participants, Benazir and Rabia, said rafting was one of the adventurous and thrilling activities. They praised the TCKP for taking such a good initiative and wanted similar activities conducted on a regular basis.
The organisers said a total of 60 men and women took part in the activity. The first round was from Jehangira town to Attock railways bridge, which ended in two hours and 15 minutes. They said the activity would be conducted in three months. There will be one trip in very week.
Talking to media, Secretary Tourism, Sports, Youth Affairs, Culture and Archaeology Tariq Khan said that the prime objective of organising a water rafting activity was to provide recreational opportunity to the general public, especially youth as water rafting is an adventurous and physical way to explore nature.
Such adventurous activities will be organized in future as we to attract and facilitate participants , added the official.
Besides Secretary Tourism Mr. Tariq Khan, Deputy Secretary for Tourism and Sports, Adil Safi, Nowshehra Deputy Commissioner Sikandar Zeeshan, Director of Adventure Edge Club Khalid Khalil and others dignitaries were also present at the occasion.
Participants were facilitated to experience the best guides, rafting equipment and refreshments. The shuttle service was arranged from Peshawar to Jehangira town. Food, first aid kit and other facilities were also provided during the event.
Various recreational and adventurous activities including paragliding, rafting, safari train excursion, visits of Sikh Community and delegation of France and European Union to Peshawar Museum and archaeological sites, city tours of walled city Peshawar for students and families have been organised by the TCKP.
