Shahab Sarki elected SHCBA president

KARACHI: Advocate Shahab Sarki on Saturday has been elected as the President of Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) in toughly contested election for the year 2016-17.

According to the unofficial results, Shahab Sarki succeeded in the high court bar election by defeating Khalid Javed, an outgoing President of SHCBA who was contesting for the slot of president second time.

According to result announced by the election commissioner, Naeem Suleman Kasam was elected as the vice president against his rivals Abdul Hamid Yousufi, Haseebur Rehman and Khalilur Rehman Abbasi. Kashif Paracha was declared as returned candidate for the office of honorary secretary. Paracha defeated his rival Ashiq Ali Anwar Rana.

Liaquat Ali Khaskheli was declared successful for the post of treasurer against Mohammad Aslam Chaudhry and Ms Saeeda Siddiqui, while Salman Ahmed Sheikh won the joint secretary seat by defeating his rivals Sarfaraz Ali Maitlo and Syed Zulfiqar Haider.

Abdul Shakoor, Dur Mohammad Shah, Ms. Shabana Sheikh, Zafar Iqbal Warraich, Z U Mujahid, Zayyad Khan Abbasi, Razia Danish, Mohammad Iqbal Aqeel were elected as members of the managing committee of SHCBA.

Polling was held at the Sindh High Court Bar Association from 9am to 5pm. As many as 1,975 votes were cast out of total 2,749 votes.
