Pindi Savour Foods, KFC fined for substandard food

RAWALPINDI: Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin paid a surprise visit to Savour Foods in Food Street and imposed Rs0.5 million fine while in Commercial Market Rs0.2 million fine was imposed on KFC.

Rs0.7 million fine was imposed on these hotels due to poor arrangements and unhygienic condition in kitchens and use of substandard cooking oil and ghee.

The minister inaugurated district office of Punjab Food Authorit y and soon after that paid surprise visit to two hotels in Commercial Market and Food Street. Punjab Food Authority (PFA) district office has been established here to check adulterated food served in and supplied from hotels.

The minister said that grand operation would be conducted on daily basis against adulteration mafia. The minister said that the offices of Punjab Food Authority would be set up in the entire province.

He said the purpose of establishing offices of Punjab Food Authority was to reform all the institutions related to food and protection of the health of citizens. He said that and an intelligence department would also be set up for making the authority more active and effective.
