RO plant installed in Gadap Town

Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui on Friday inaugurated a reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration plant in Union Council 4 of Gadap Town.
The area had been facing an acute water shortage and the commissioner termed the filtration plant, installed in collaboration with UN Habitat-Pakistan, a ‘New Year’s gift’ for the people.
“This RO filter plant will help address the pressing water shortage in the area and also improve the quality of water consumed by the people. Contaminated water supply has been known to spread deadly diseases such as the polio virus and this plant will also help reduce such risks,” said Siddiqui.
The UN Habitat has handed over the project to the Malir District Municipal Corporation while a local non-governmental organisation has signed a MoU for maintenance of the plant for the next five years. All expenses for the purpose would be borne by the NGO.
