Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Board of Governors Barrister Amjad Malik on Wednesday formally inaugurated the e-learning initiative at the OPF Girls College, F-8/2, Islamabad, making the foundation the first ever public sector organisation to undertake the project at its educational institutions.

OPF Managing Director Habibur Rehman Gilani and senior officials were also present on the occasion. On the occasion, Barrister Amjad said information technology had brought revolution in day to day life.

He said the adoption of modern technology in educational institutions would help improve quality of education besides facilitating the students and teachers. "It has been observed during his interaction with diaspora in UAE that thousands of children of expatriate workers are without education and schooling and the same complaints are received from Saudi Arabia," he said.

The OPF BOG chairman said E-learning was the way forward to ensure that children go to schools as soon as possible. He lauded the college's authorities for providing conducive atmosphere to female students and said educating a woman was equal to educating a whole family.
