JARANWALA: Rain and strong winds lashed several areas, damaging standing crops and disrupting normal life. Reportedly, the rain accompanied by winds hit more than one hundred villages of the tehsil and dashed hopes of growers of maize, sugar cane and rice crops. This year they were expecting bumper crops of sugar cane and rice. Now, the cultivators have demanded the government make sugar mills operational in the third week of this month to save them from more loss. They added that a slight delay in sugar mills operation would be disastrous for them.
