Two ‘Lyari gangsters’ killed in encounter

Two alleged criminals, said to members of a Lyari gang, were gunned down by the Sindh Rangers in a shootout on early Thursday morning.

According to a spokesman of the paramilitary force, the encounter ensued in the Singo Lane area, Lyari, where four gangsters, affiliated with the Ustad Taju group of Lyari gang war’s Yousuf Pathan faction, opened fire at the raiding team.

After a heavy exchange of firing, he added, the paramilitary force gunned down two gangsters, while the other two managed to make a getaway.

Automatic weapons and ammunition were also found on the killed terrorists, the spokesman said, adding that the dead bodies along with the seized weapons were later handed over to police for further legal action.

Police sources said the bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities. The killed terrorists were identified as Naeem Lahoti and Zeeshan.

The Sindh government had announced a reward of Rs0.5 million for the arrest of Naeem Lahoti.

The killed gangsters were wanted by the police in cases of murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and other crimes, according to police.
