STIG in-charge, Ali Raza while talking to media said the weapons were recovered on a tip-off by an intelligence agency regarding terrorists shifting their weapons to some place in the outskirts of the city.

Alerted over the information, personnel signaled a suspicious Suzuki van to stop, near Nishan-e-Haider Chowk in Orangi Town. However, the occupants of the vehicle on seeing the police abandoned the pick-up and fled into the area’s narrow lanes. The police impounded the vehicle after they recovered two gunny bags filled with weapons.

The recovered weapons included seven sub-machine guns, one MP-5 and 9mm pistol each, a light machine gun, a repeater, eight 7mm rifles, three semi-automatic rifles, two 303 rifles, seven magazines and 2,000 bullets of different calibers. Further investigations are underway.
